Speech is the lecture or the talk delivered to a set of people. Speech is delivered to communicate with a group of masses. Speech is intended to communicate with a set of crowd. Speech cannot be addressed to the masses in large. It is not possible to deliver the entire message through speech to the large masses.

Speech can be delivered to public in general but the amount of public is not very large. Speech is a form of talk which is one sided. It is only a one way type of a communication. It is both formal and informal. It requires good communication and speaking skills on the part of the person who is giving speech. It is only from the party who is intending to deliver some message to the public. Through speeches the public comes to know what the opposite party is trying to say.

Speech is both public and private speech. When the speech is given in some private matter it is a private speech. When the speech is delivered for a public purpose it is termed as a public speech.
