****Position Overview
The SEED Foundation is seeking a Human Resources Generalist who will be responsible for managing key aspects of the human resources (HR) department including, but not limited to
recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, maintaining employee files, compliance, employee relations, employee handbook revisions, and performance management processes. This person will ensure the proper implementation, use and administration of our human capital management software, Paylocity™,
while also participating in network-wide human resources and talent strategy discussions dedicated to advancing best practices and streamlining systems. The Human Resources Generalist will be an important resource for the Foundation and a strong partner to colleagues across the SEED network. This position reports to the Chief Growth Officer and supports special projects led by the executive team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain all personnel files; ensure records are up to date and complete.
Record personnel transactions (such as new hires, promotions, terminations, salary changes, benefits updates, etc.) in web-based system, Paylocity.
Liaise with finance team on semi-monthly payroll and other payroll matters.
Provide timely and responsive service to staff seeking assistance on HR or employment-related matters.
Provide support to employees and leadership team.
Attend and contribute to HR meetings; act as planning group administrator.
Keep up to date on HR laws and changes that can impact the organization.
Manage staff recruitment processes – post, maintain, and update job postings on various websites; review and score resumes; conduct interviews; manage reference checks; write offer letters.
Lead initial onboarding process for new employees (process paperwork, create personnel file, provide office access, request IT access, set up Paylocity access).
Conduct exit interviews; analyze and provide recommendations based on exit interviews.
Oversee the off boarding/handover process.
Handle employment verifications for current and past employees.
Host open enrollment meetings, resolve benefit issues for staff, and provide ongoing support.
Manage all employee benefits packages including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, retirement plans (to include setup, maintenance, and internal and external communications).
Explain benefits programs, enroll/terminate employee coverage under medical, dental, vision plans, and provide coverage information to employees for enrollment, termination, and qualifying events.
Process insurance invoices (including allocations by department for health, dental, vision, life, and FSA).
Troubleshoot employee issues with insurance/benefits vendors.
Review and update employee handbook.
Ensure all new hire employment documents are completed (new hire data form, confidentiality agreement, I9 verification form, etc.).
Serve as administrator for FMLA and COBRA.
Manage employee celebrations/milestones (e.g., birthdays, work anniversaries, events).
Conduct employee well checks – maintain positive relationships and look for warning signs (morale, burnout, etc.).
Review and update standard operating procedures.
Conduct HR benefit/compensation research as needed.
Support network-wide human resources and talent management projects and processes.
Essential Experience, Skills, and Competencies
Ideal candidates are expected to have/be:

Minimally a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field. PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experiences specifically working in human resources.
Prior experience in nonprofits, schools, school districts, school networks, and/or charter networks--especially those serving underrepresented students.
Knowledge of laws and regulations related to HR, including EEO and FLSA.
Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills.
Highly effective planning, organizing, and project management skills.
Strong relationship management skills required; must be able to work independently, in a dynamic, fast paced setting under tight deadlines.
Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
Critical thinking skills with the ability to take ownership and initiative to independently problem solve.
Proactive, reflective and engage in backwards-planning to manage own workload.
Experience writing reports and corresponding with internal and external stakeholders.
Technical expertise with personal computers in a professional setting, including intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Extensive knowledge of and experience with recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, compliance and working with health benefit brokers.
The ability to evaluate personnel policies and procedures, redevelop them as appropriate, and lead organization-wide efforts.
Willing to ask questions, adept in engaging in difficult conversations and be comfortable engaging with senior organizational leaders.
Flexible and comfortable with change, both in individual and SEED network projects.
Fluency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, along with experience using google docs, sheets, and forms.
Experience with human resources information (HRIS).
Willing to travel to SEED Schools and external meetings.
