Essential Job Functions
What will you do?
Plan, conduct, and design job analysis, assessment tool development, and validation research projects.
Collaborate and consult with operating departments to understand assessment needs and recommend efficient and effective assessment plans to identify the best candidates for the job.
Interview, observe, and survey subject matter experts to collect information and identify critical work behaviors and skills necessary for optimal job performance.
Develop and validate assessment tools (e.g., structured interviews, written tests) based on job analysis results in order to provide a fair and equitable assessment process and predict successful job performance.
Participate in special projects related to selection, recruitment, business process improvement, performance measurement and evaluation, learning and development.
Conduct basic statistical analyses (e.g., correlations, scale reliability estimates) and apply classical test theory to improve the reliability and validity of assessments and ensure fairness.
Collaborate with operating departments to ensure job analysis and assessment materials are in accordance with professional guidelines and legal standards.
Requirements

Specialty Requirements:
Option I:
A doctoral degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Measurement, Applied Psychology, or a closely related field.
Option II:
A master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Measurement, Applied Psychology, or a closely related field and one year of experience developing and validating assessments*.
Special Requirement Information:
*We consider this experience to include conducting routine job analysis studies and basic analysis of test and item statistics, and developing standard pre-employment assessments (e.g., structured interviews, written tests), while under immediate supervision. Qualifying experience may have been gained through an internship.
**Experience is evaluated on the basis of a verifiable 40-hour work week (full-time). Work performed part-time will be prorated.

which shows the area of specialization, and/or a legible copy of the official certificate and/or license at the time of filing

License Required:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
Physical Class II - Light:
Light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved.

Eligibility Information
Applications will be processed on an as-received basis and promulgated to the eligible register accordingly. Those receiving a passing score in the examination will be placed on the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of six (6) months.
Vacancy Information
The resulting eligible register will be used to fill vacancies within the Department of Human Resources' Countywide Talent Assessment Division (Test Research unit).
