How to Make the Right Career Choices

What do you think about this article? Rate it using the stars above and let us know what you think in the comments below.
Most of the career choices in today's world are not personal choices at all, but people are held hostage by paychecks, family and peer pressure etc. Most of us take up jobs or careers followed by a paycheck, even though we are not passionate about the work that we are going to do.

This is not logical or does not make any sense to me at all. Well, do we marry or choose our friends taking into consideration these preferences, we don't, right! then why do we compromise with a career choice that will impact our future. We are rather eager to work almost 9 to 12 hours at a place that does not motivate us or the work we are not passionate about. It is time for us to pull up our socks and make the correct career choices that will motivate and stimulate a passion to live life to the maximum. You surely do have the right to choose and the time to make the change is perhaps at hand.

A bit of evaluation, authenticity, usability and passion is all it would take to be motivated and to make the right choices in life, especially in your career. It is time for you to free yourself from all types of blockages that stand between you and your dream career. You have to break down all barriers of paychecks, family & peer pressures, comfort zones, conveniences and start dreaming about the kind of career you want to pursue. This will surely make some people around you unhappy, but it will surely free you from the misery of living the life that you fear. To achieve something in life you must possess the desire and the passion to live it.

It is said that ''Passion is that burst of internal thrill that propels you effortlessly toward the work of realization.'' If you are not passionate about the career that you want, it probably is not your dream Career that you are looking for after all. A career, a job that gives you the utmost thrill, something that is self-driven, gives you sleepless nights or is something you think about all day is your ''Dream career''. That is probably what you are cut out for, no matter if it does not fit in the ways of the society around you.

A strong self-evaluation into what makes your life tick, knowing the things that put a smile on your face; a look into your heart at the yearnings that have all gone unmet is the need of the hour. This is the beginning of realization of a dream career.

Writing down your accomplishments and dreams is a good way of motivating or re-kindling the fire to achieve your dream career. It is very important in life to explore new grounds, new attitudes, and new possibilities, which will harness your potential to achieve the goals you set for yourself.

To begin with, one should know where they are in their career right now, accept and acknowledge where they are and decide where they want to be. Once these two destinations are correctly defined, chalk out a plan on how you can reach your destination. To give you an example, say you plan to go on a holiday trip to a popular hill station (that is your destination). You would definitely do some research about how you would be travelling from your place (from where you are) to the hill station (destination) and what would it take or cost to reach there (exploring new grounds, possibilities to reach your destination). You use this procedure in most of your daily activities, but for some reason you don't follow it strongly when it comes to your dream career.

Accepting where you are, deciding where you want to go, making a plan to reach there, perseverance and passion to achieve it no matter what it takes, not shying off from asking for assistance or help from others and last but not the least having strong faith and trusting you will reach where you want to be (a dream career) is the kind of attitude you should develop. I am sure this experience will make you stronger and wiser and that you will grow in ways you never imagined possible.

Leaving you encouraged and motivated to make it happen against all odds to achieve your dreams and fulfill your heart's desire.
