How will you make an impact?
As a member of the Total Rewards team, the Sr. Benefits Specialist will serve as the first point of contact for all retirement, benefits and welfare related questions and escalating, if necessary, to the appropriate team member. This role will provide customer service support to AAMC staff along with administrative support to the Benefits manager.
Customer Service
Provides day to day coordination of our Retirement and welfare plans and is the first point of contact for all Leaves of Absence and Retirement inquiries
Responds to verbal and written inquiries related to retirement and leave requests ensuring timely resolution and compliance
Serves as liaison between the employees and benefit vendors when needed and coordinates employee resolution with third party vendors.
Administration
Assists with the administration of AAMC's leave of absence policies including leave banks and FML, Short Term and Long-Term disability and sick leave trust program
Builds a strong relationship with Leave program administrators including in house Payroll team to ensure effective communication, reporting and delivery of benefits entitlements.
Be the main point of contact for the reconciling, code, and processing of all benefits invoices timely.
Initiate ergonomic assessments and reasonable accommodations as needed to our carriers
Assist with timely distribution of required benefits legal notices
Processing of workers' compensation claims and coordination with insurance carrier as well as help compile data for end-of year reporting
Maintains excellent benefit records in HRIS and/or other tracking tools.
Administers AAMC's transit subsidy program through WMATA's Smart Benefits program, which includes but not limited to; enrollment processing, communications, and monthly reporting
Support
Provide periodic administrative support to Benefits Manager for projects such as upcoming benefit/welfare events and benefit education/highlights including management training
What will you bring to the role?
Bachelor's Degree with 5 years related HR experience
Proficient in Workday human capital management system, or similar HRIS
Strong Microsoft Suite - Mastery in Excel strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience in customer service
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Must be detailed oriented
Must be able to multi-task in a fast past environment.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
Must be discreet and able to maintain confidentiality

If a bachelor's degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions. One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
