Duties
SUMMARY:
The Manager of Professional Development
& Training will have firm-wide responsibility for helping to support
the Legal Personnel and Professional Development Department. This role
is responsible for assisting both the Chief, Director and Associate Director
of the department in managing all aspects of the departmental functions,
including the evaluation process and professional development initiatives
for all associates firm wide. The Manager will be a visible part of the
Firm culture and a clear resource for all associates.
DUTIES:
Oversee, work with and provide guidance to
Training Managers on departmental-based curriculum and firm-wide training
Support the Attorney Development Committee
and related initiatives
Assist with utilization of benchmarks in all
practice areas, including the development of adaptations for sub-specialties
and branch offices
Help support the Partner Advisor Program in
the NY Corporate Groups
Support first-year and mid-level mentoring
programs
Assist with exit interviews for departing
associates
Oversee CLE compliance and Bar Admissions
function, including supervising the CLE Senior Coordinator and CLE Assistant
Assist with annual “Firm Update” meeting content
development and execution
Assist with overseeing the planning and content
of annual Departmental Overviews and related events
Act as attorney contact for Leave of Absence
and Flex-time related responsibilities, including being the primary interface
with associates on individual questions and logistics and reintegration
Meet with associates individually regarding
transition and integration
Assist with associate & counsel coaching
efforts
Assist with reinforcing various legal personnel
policies, e.g. diary compliance, vacation tracking
Support the Chief on increasing cross-departmental
functionality
Assist with Legal Recruiting and D&I related
functions on a as needed basis
Serve as departmental contact for Manager
of Alumni Engagement
Serve as an advisor and liaison between associates
and partners; direct attorneys to resources within the firm to help resolve
concerns or problems and coordinate available resources to help find solutions
Required
5-6 years of related experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
and the ability to interact well and build professional relationships while
maintaining confidentiality; collaborative approach to working with others
of all seniority levels
Excellent collaboration and organizational
skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects;
Strong attention to detail
Ability to self-direct, manage multiple priorities,
analyze needs and implement solutions
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
with professionals at all levels
Strong judgment and ability to respect, protect,
and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information
Knowledge of CLE rules
Must be team oriented, contributing as needed
on unexpected projects or requests
Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and
comfortable working in web-based databases/software, e.g. viDesktop
