Human Resources Specialist
Position Summary
The Human Resources Specialist functions as the primary point of contact for Human Resources, with a high volume of transactional processing, as well as, responding to internal and external customers and departments by assisting in resolving matters that require a broad base of HR knowledge.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
• Responds to inquiries by providing accurate information based upon knowledge of the appropriate **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. policy language
and intent and knowledge and compliance of the appropriate state and federal laws.
• Administers and maintains Human Resources programs as assigned.
• Exhibit excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple assignments, adapting to changing
priorities and situations, and follow through on the completion of assignments by deadlines.
• Establishes and maintains positive customer service relationships at all times by utilizing excellent customer services skills; relates
effectively at all levels and recognizes when someone is in distress. Responds to issues and concerns in a timely manner, remains
focused, and maintains a caring and professional attitude at all times. Keeps customers informed of delays.
• Provides ongoing customer education in the process of answering concerns. Assists customers in completing **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and
Human Resource related forms and applications.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality when researching and resolving customer concerns.
• Applies policies and procedures, communicates, and positively adapts to change.
• Maintains accurate information in the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). Able to query, audit, and compile reports
from the database as needed.
• Maintains accurate information in the Human Resources Optical Imaging system.
• Provides training for Specialists in other internal Human Resources Departments.
• Makes recommendations for process improvements to continuously improve overall efficiency and customer service. Participants
in the development of department goals, objectives and processes.
• Escalates customer concerns when necessary to Manager.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state
and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
• Tracks trends and developments in assigned areas.
• Participates in working groups, councils and committees.
• Participates in development of departmental goals and objectives.
• Continually seeks to improve overall function of department.
• Conducts group or individual training sessions as needed.
• Familiarizes customers with established human resources procedures, processes, and time frames.
• Exhibits positive and tactful written and verbal communication skills.
• Organizes and expedites flow of work.
• Maintains the confidentiality of all **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. information.
• Knowledgeable of Human Resources guidelines, processes and policies.
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and customer service skills when dealing with **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. staff, management, and
visitors.
• Possession of ability to comfortably interact with all individuals from various walks of life and differing hierarchical levels within the
organization.
• Attends meetings/in-services and presents information in department and other meetings as requested.
• Assumes responsibility for ongoing professional development and continuing education.
• Exhibit excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple assignments, adapting to changing
priorities and situations, and follow through on the completion of assignments by deadlines.
• Assists other HR functions and the departments that she/he supports on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
Education/Training
Bachelor's degree OR;
An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience on a 1:1 basis, offsetting experience must be in the field of Human Resources.
Licensure/Certification
None.
Experience
Two (2) years' experience in Human Resources or administrative support role.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required, including intermediate to advanced Excel and Outlook skills.
Requires prior knowledge of principles and practices of human resources.
Must be familiar with Federal, State, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and human rights guidelines and laws. Knows record retention and release of information laws
